ON Sundays, The Friends of The Woodlawn Cemetery give tours of the grounds. Tours are approximately two hours long and 1.5 miles in length. Tours begin at 2 p.m., unless otherwise noted.  Check the schedule for the entry gate where the tour begins. Admission is $10 for Adults, $5 for Seniors (65 and up) and $5 for Students, and is free for children six and under. Members of The Friends of the Woodlawn Cemetery are admitted free.  Reservations for all programs are recommended.  For additional information, call the Friends office at (718) 920-1470 or email a note to friends@thewoodlawncemetery.org

Meet at the Hartsdale Cemetery or caravan from Woodlawn at 12:30 p.m.

War Dog Memorial Day

Meet at the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery for the celebration of War Dog Memorial Day.  Following the program, Woodlawn Mausoleum owner Tony LaMura will take us to his matching mausoleum for his dog, Sandy followed by a tour the graves of the pets of Woodlawn’s families.

The Big Broadcast Tour

Rich Conaty, weekly host of FM 90.7 WFUV’s Big Broadcast Show will lead us to the songwriters of the 1920’s & 30’s.  Irving Berlin (Puttin’ on the Ritz), Sam Lewis (Dinah), Duke Ellington (Satin Doll), Gus Edwards (By the Light of the Silvery Moon) and Nora Bayes (Shine on Harvest Moon) are among the notables on this walking tour.

Jerry and Eleanor Koffler will sign their new guidebook to sculpture by the Piccirilli Brothers in New York City.  After the program walk to the memorials created by these famous artists.

Biographer's Group

The Friends of Woodlawn have launched a project to create a database to document the histories of the individuals memorialized at The Woodlawn Cemetery.  Genealogists can contribute biographies on their family members - historians can add those they are studying. Learn about the database and how to volunteer to write biographies.
